CRM vendor Entellium has announced that David Scott, a former senior executive at both Intermec (News - Alert) Technologies and PeopleSoft Inc., has joined Entellium as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

Scott will be responsible for developing and managing Entellium's product marketing, corporate communications and sales growth strategies.

Scott's career has included stints at General Electric -- "I grew up in the ranks of GE," Scott said -- and The Boston Consulting Group. As Vice President of Marketing and Strategy at Pleasanton, CA-based PeopleSoft, Scott supported the company's $2.5 billion Global Services Division.

A couple weeks ago Entellium announced that Forrester Research (News - Alert) invited it to participate in its Q1 2007 Forrester Wave report, Midmarket CRM Suites, released in February.

In this review, Entellium was recognized as a strong performer, offering small and midsize businesses "ready-to-use, affordable CRM."

Forrester evaluated several midmarket CRM vendors using nearly 500 criteria grouped into three main categories: current offering, strategy and market presence. Entellium, according to company officials, earned the highest scores for cost and time-to-value, as well as one of the top three scores for product strategy, corporate strategy, and usability.

Findings of the Wave Report related to Entellium include that Entellium is suited for SMBs seeking SaaS (News - Alert) CRM, and has customers across a range of industries in financial services firms, technology providers and business services firms. The company's CRM was noted for its "strong mobile and offline access," company officials say.

Late last year Entellium announced the commercial availability of the Usability Release 2006, a series of upgrades and enhancements to its on-demand CRM product suite.

The announcement was timed to coincide with World Usability Day in mid-November, described by company officials as "a series of events designed to promote leadership in usability and design-a key distinction of Usability Release 2006."

The enhanced versions of Entellium's flagship eSalesForce and eCustomerCenter products featured "a sleek new look, greater automation and a more intuitive approach to navigation," company officials say, so "sales and support teams will be able to manage their activities and tasks more efficiently."

"Today's CRM products don't do nearly enough to make the lives of sales, marketing and customer service employees easier," said Paul Johnston, Entellium President and CEO. "Most have been optimized to serve senior management and the IT department. As a result, these tools actually slow the user down, hindering their effectiveness on the job."
