Diversified Technology Unveils 10 Gigabit Ethernet Switch for ATCA![]() TMCnet Contributing Editor Diversified Technology Inc. has introduced a low cost, highly functional ATS1936 Switch Blade. The board reportedly features 10G Ethernet “I think there is little doubt about the potential for 10G Ethernet, via the ATCA 3.1 sub-specification, to be a watershed event for the telecommunication industry,” said Joe McDevitt, DTI’s VP of Technical Marketing in a press release. McDevitt believes the aging install base of telecommunication equipment now, finally, has a chance for true performance increases using standardized form factors. For over 15 years, the company has been helping its NEBS customers with these types of market-changing performance increases by using their cohesive approach to embedded solutions. “DTI helps get our customers to market faster with their exact feature needs, and we have now answered the call for a low-cost 10G Ethernet switch,” he concluded. As a low cost, highly functional AdvancedTCA (News - Alert) switch, the ATS1936 complies with PICMG 3.0 R2.0 ECN002 and PICMG 3.1 Option 1 and Option 9. This switch features three AMC sites for OA&M, Firewall The ATS1936 provides a separate control plane and data plane by separating the Base and Fabric networks. The new release provides 1Gb Ethernet switching on the 3.0 Base Fabric and the 3.1 Expansion Fabric provides 1Gb/10Gb Ethernet switching. The two networks are fully managed with the robust management suite and thus reduce issues integrating the customers’ ATCA platforms with the outside world. In another announcement, Diversified Technology, Inc. introduced the ATC6231, a dual-core Second Generation AMD Opteron processor-based Node Board designed for the next generation of telecom applications. As a PICMG 3.1 compliant processor blade the board combines low price with high performance for wireless access/edge, telecom fiber transport, media gateways, soft switches, and Internet IP-based applications. Diversified Technology, Inc. (DTI) is an embedded hardware company whose strength lies in the cohesive approach they use with their customers. With this cohesive approach DTI works hand-in-hand with companies to ensure they are getting the best performance, highest reliability, shortest time-to-market and efficient use of computing hardware for their program's embedded application.
