Mobile news announced recently:

China Mobile has worked out an acquisition list mainly targeting emerging telecom markets across the globe, said insiders from an investment bank who close to the carrier.

News outlet SinoCast reports that “one clear target is the Indian market. Earlier, the Chinese mobile telecom operator was said to make an investment in the Indian counterpart Reliance.”


China Mobile, the top mobile telecom operator in the country, has been on the road of acquisition since October last year when the carrier's Hong Kong listed arm posted an announcement of buying the local operator China Resources Peoples Telephone Company.

Axesstel, Inc., a vendor of fixed wireless voice and broadband data products, will introduce its new MV300 Series CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Gateways.

Lixin Cheng, chief sales officer and president of the fixed wireless group for Axesstel, has said telecom penetration rates are extremely low in many emerging Asian countries, “and our recent purchase order announcements demonstrate the significant demand we are seeing from this region… we will demonstrate the competitive advantages of fixed wireless and converged solutions and look to partner with operators in Asia to meet unmet demand."

The Axesstel MV300 Series Gateways converge CDMA2000 1xEV-DO data, CDMA2000 1X voice, analog fax, a Wi-Fi router and 4 port Ethernet switch in one device that provides residential and small business users with high-speed access to e-mail and the Internet, voice calling, fax capabilities and plug-and-play networking of multiple laptop and desktop personal computers.

Cisco Systems (News - Alert) has announced that the city of Farmers Branch, Texas, a first-ring suburb northwest of Dallas, selected the outdoor wireless "mesh" offering from Cisco and MobilePro Corp.

MobilePro will act as the wireless Internet service provider for Farmers Branch and manage the city's mesh network, allowing the city to offer Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) 802.11 b/g connectivity to consumer, academic, commercial and government users.

In addition to providing access to its citizens, the city plans to use the outdoor Wi-Fi mesh network for public safety and public works applications, such as meter reading, police communications, and tracking city vehicles.

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. has announced that its Maryland-based subsidiary, Comtech Mobile Datacom Corporation, has received orders totaling $9.2 million for its mobile satellite data communications transceivers.

The orders are for the supply of Comtech's Model 2011 mobile satellite data transceivers. The transceivers are integral to the Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below - Blue Force Tracking program, a battle command real-time situational awareness and control system.
