Japan AE Power Systems, Lion Co-develop Eco-friendly Insulation Oil for Use in Converters

(Comtex Business Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Tokyo, Japan, Mar 15, 2006 (JCN Newswire via COMTEX) --Japan AE Power Systems Corporation and Lion Corporation have jointly developed Palm Fatty Acid Ester, a palm fruit-based insulation oil for use in converters.

Easily decomposed by microorganisms in soil, the eco-friendly oil does not release additional carbon dioxide gas when it burns. Extracted from palm trees, a plentiful natural resource, the oil can be supplied more stably than petroleum-based counterparts.

Superior to conventional petrolatum in insulating performance, the oil has lower viscosity with an excellent cooling effect, making it possible for use in large-capacity converters, as well as contributing to the downsizing of such converters.

Composed of saturated fatty acid, which is chemically stable, the oil is durable and highly resistant to thermal degradation.
