SBC Communications Announces New Contract with Enid Public Schools; SBC Services Support Applications, Provide Reliability for Oklahoma School District

SAN ANTONIO --(Business Wire)-- Sept. 1, 2005 -- SBC Communications Inc. (NYSE:SBC) today announced a new contract to provide networking services to Enid Public Schools (EPS), a public school district consisting of 15 schools located in Enid, Okla.

Under the terms of the five-year contract, SBC companies will deliver SBC PremierSERV(SM) Asynchronous Transfer Mode Service (ATM), SBC PremierSERV(SM) Customized Switched Metro Ethernet (CSME), and SBC PremierSERV(SM) Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) to each of the district's buildings to deliver high-speed performance and exceptional reliability across the EPS network. The SBC family of companies is the district's primary service provider for data, network, and voice services.

Together, these new services will expand EPS' bandwidth to the Internet. As a result, Enid schools will be able to expand their distance learning programs, and the district will have a network architecture capable of supporting IP telephony in the future. Furthermore, EPS will easily meet requirements for bandwidth-intensive applications and online testing set by the state's Department of Education.

"To support our rapid growth and to meet state requirements, we were in need of a provider that could equip us with the tools needed to succeed," said Michael King, director of Information Technology, Enid Public Schools. "We're confident that SBC companies will provide us with a flexible solution that will not only meet our immediate needs but also allow for future capabilities as we continue to grow."

"We're thrilled to work with such a future-minded school district," said Chuck Rudnick, president-Business Communications Services, SBC Southwest. "Our networking services will enable EPS to provide students with new applications and distance learning opportunities, and will set the foundation for future adoption of services like IP telephony."
