Paraxip Technologies Announces Availability of its Speech-Optimized Media Gateways

Paraxip Technologies today announced the availability of its VoIP Gateway Products, optimized for use with standards-based speech recognition systems and other Host Media Processing (HMP) applications. Based on open, commercial technologies, the Paraxip Gateway is the most flexible media gateway solution in the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) and speech market today. The product has the following key characteristics:

- Based on modular, off-the-shelf hardware and software components. This allows Paraxip to utilize years of deployment experience and a wealth of capabilities in telephony connectivity, media processing, and SIP connectivity through third-party providers' technologies.. The product can also be used to “IP-enable” existing telephony boards and server equipment already owned and capitalized by its customers.

- Optimized for speech and IVR self-service applications. The product was built from the ground up to address limitations and deficiencies of traditional commercial gateway products in this market. High-value features include a speech-friendly Enhanced Voice Activity Detector (eVAD)and the best VoIP-optimized echo canceller in the industry with 128 msec echo tail cancellation on every port from partner Kallastra Inc, advanced call transfer capabilities, and more, making the Paraxip Gateway the obvious choice for speech and IVR applications.

- Unparalleled SIP application flexibility and transparency to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). Paraxip’s Routing Engine technology enables the highest possible degree of flexibility and control directly by the SIP application. SIP application designers no longer need to feel “trapped” behind an opaque and proprietary media gateway appliance. Furthermore, because of its software-based, building-block approach, the product offers numerous, flexible deployment configurations.

“The speech and IVR industry has long been awaiting better adapted and more flexible media gateway solutions,” said Serge Forest, President and CEO of Paraxip Technologies. “Paraxip is pleased to bring to market its innovative connectivity solutions that not only provide more flexibility than any other commercial offering, but also increase the Return On Investment (ROI) of IP-based speech applications.”

“Intel is pleased that Paraxip has adopted Intel® NetStructure™ telecom boards to further expand the field of host-media-processing-enabled network components,” said Sandra Rivera, director of marketing, Network Building Block Division, Intel Corporation. “As this industry continues its transition to HMP technology, it is key to have suppliers such as Paraxip offering complementary technologies to products such as Intel NetStructure Host Media Processing Software, which help to reduce time-to-market and the overall cost of ownership of IP telephony solutions.”

The Paraxip Gateway is currently shipping 4-, 8- and 12-port analog configurations. Its digital configurations (ISDN, CAS), with connectivity of up to four spans, are available for customer trials.
