Voiceboard’s cPCI SwitchBlade™ SubRate Switch for BroadBand Wireless BaseStation Applications Quadruples Bandwidth Capacity

Oxnard, CA – October 29, 2003, Voiceboard Corporation released its SwitchBlade™ subrate switching cPCI card, offering a dramatic 4X increase in bandwidth capacity over previous solutions. SwitchBlade improvements translate into reduced acquisition and ongoing operating costs for broadband wireless communication systems. OEM’s seeking to replace or expand existing subrate switching solutions will find just 4 SwitchBlade cards can replace an entire switching system chassis at a significantly reduced cost.

SwitchBlade provides OEM’s developing BSC (Base station Controllers), subrate TRAU systems and wireless infrastructure equipment significant increases in channel densities, flexibility and performance gains, at a fraction of the previous cost structure.

The SwitchBlade is a PICMG 2.16 compatible board, capable of switching any mix of 8, 16, 32 and 64kbps subrate or full rate channel bandwidths. SwitchBlade channel capacity is 1920 simultaneous H.110 time slot connections, equaling 960 bi-directional channels.

Other unique features of SwitchBlade include any combination of software selectable E1, T1 and J1 network interfaces supporting 960 (E1) or 768 (T1/J1) bearer channels; optional PRI ISDN, LAP-D or SS7 signaling and a plug in DSP module for adding GSM vocoder and TRAU capabilities. SwitchBlade can combine signaling and bearer traffic effortlessly on the same board, resulting in a single board solution versus the traditional solution of separating signaling from bearer traffic onto two separate boards. The software selectable T1/E1/J1 interface ends the need to inventory and support separate board types to service global customer requirements. SwitchBlade is supported by Linux, Windows, Solaris and VxWorks driver software.

Voiceboard also offers a complete array of embedded hardware and software products for VoIP, FAX, Modem and conferencing, in addition to for ISDN and SS7 signaling.
