Volo Launches Industry’s First Wholesale Packet Voice Service Platform for
Carriers, ISPs & Cable Companies with Pricing as Low as $5/Mo.

Wholesale Offering Eliminates Capital Expenditures So Carriers Begin Selling Services & Realizing Profits Immediately

Volo Wholesale Platform Offers Connectivity to Pulver’s Free World Dialup Service

Altamonte Springs, FL, October 29, 2003 Volo Communications, a subsidiary of Caerus, Inc., announced today a new wholesale VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) subscriber Service for ISPs, Tier 1 & 2 Carriers, CLECs, DSL providers and Cable Companies. This offering provides an end-to-end nationwide solution for service providers of all types, enabling them to begin selling services and realizing revenues and profits immediately. Because this private label offering is based on Caerus’ revolutionary softswitch, no capital expense, operational expense or systems integration is required. The interface for the carrier customers and their subscribers is a branded website displaying the carrier’s logo and service menu.

Caerus’ Wholesale Packet Voice Service bundles local and long distance phone services along with a full suite of hosted enhanced calling features, the fastest growing sector of the Internet market today. Features include: Voicemail, Call Waiting, Call Forwarding, Caller ID, 3-Way Calling, Repeat Dialing, Call Transfer, Caller ID Block, and Virtual Phone Numbers. These services are accessible from a standard PC, telephone or IP phone.

“Our Wholesale Packet Voice Service is a carrier class solution that enables service providers of all sizes and types to begin offering advanced voice and packet services immediately with no up front costs and no hidden costs down the road,” said Shawn Lewis, President and CEO of Caerus, Inc. “This new pricing model demonstrates for the first time the true savings that packet communications can provide, enabling our customers to offer a full set of enhanced services at a highly competitive price point.”

Service providers who sign up for Wholesale Packet Voice Service will be able to provide their customers full control over their choice of features, which can be easily changed as needed through a Web-based interface. Their customers will be able to perform online account management, including Web-based Voicemail retrieval, view account activity and select phone numbers nationwide.

“The packet communications marketplace has been on the verge of success for many years now,” Mr. Lewis explained. “True success will only come about when the proper enabling technologies are accessible to carriers through a business model that makes sense to them. Caerus will play a very important role in making this happen.”

phone with them on the road, plug it into any dial-up or broadband Internet connection and utilize the full set of voice features over that Internet connection.

"We're very excited to be working with Volo Communications to begin the newest transition in telephony - the transfer of voice calls to IP-based networks. This revolution will offer our customers greater choice, greater savings, and the ability to stay connected globally anywhere there is an Internet connection,” said Bob Carp, CEO of Galaxy Internet Services. “We have built out our network and begun providing customer service and support for these services to meet the strong demand that we are already seeing from our customers.”

Volo also announced that its customers’ subscribers will be able to dial Jeff Pulver’s Free World Dialup (FWD) members for free. Members of the FWD Community will also be able to directly dial Volo customers’ subscribers for free from within the FWD Network.

“Free World Dialup is always looking to expand its on-net calling to other leading IP-based Service Providers who would like to extend free calling capabilities to their subscribers,” said Jeff Pulver, CEO, Pulver.com.

Unlike other VoIP service offerings that traverse the public Internet, Volo’s wholesale voice services are offered over Volo Communications’ private IP backbone network, which is fully optimized for the highest quality business applications, offering MPLS services between switches, over one national backbone network rather than 1,000s of Internet subnetworks.

“Our mission at Caerus is to empower service providers to finally begin reaping the full benefits available from packet communications technologies,” Mr. Lewis said. “This network agnostic service offering will open up a whole new world of high quality convergent services for consumers and businesses alike. True convergence should apply to networks of all types Internet, Intranets, traditional telephony, cable and more - not just the individual products and technologies that provision them.”

Once a service provider decides to offer these services, it can be up and running and selling services within 15 minutes. For more information about this offering contact [email protected].
