TELUS Mobility Selects Tatara To Provide Components For Wi-Fi Roaming And 1X Interoperability

Tatara Systems, a developer of service delivery platforms that accelerate the path to profitability for public wireless LAN ("Wi-Fi") service providers, announced that TELUS Mobility has selected Tatara to provide components for Wi-Fi roaming and 1X interoperability.

Tatara's solution will allow TELUS Mobility to maximize the end user value of its wireless data services by enabling Wi-Fi roaming and by integrating Wi-Fi and wireless WAN (1X) services into a single end user offering. The Tatara Wi-Fi Service Delivery Platform allows a carrier to maintain control of its subscribers and to extend advanced services to those subscribers - regardless of what type of network they are using or who operates the network.

The Tatara solution also allows TELUS Mobility to better manage its roaming relationships - a critical function given the company's commitment to a cross-industry Wi-Fi roaming initiative announced by the Canadian Wireless Telecom Association (CWTA) earlier this year.

"TELUS Mobility found Tatara's unique platform approach best enables us to deliver world-class Wi-Fi and 1X services to our clients across Canada," said Robert Blumenthal, Vice President of Products and Services for TELUS Mobility. "By leveraging Tatara's solutions, we can ensure that our subscribers have access to the most consistent and highest value wireless data services - available across the largest number of networks."

"Being selected by TELUS Mobility - a leading national wireless carrier with a history of innovation - validates the superior capabilities of Tatara's unique and patent-pending platform solution," said Steve Nicolle, President and CEO of Tatara Systems. "We're excited to be selected by TELUS Mobility as a key solution provider for its wireless data services, and we look forward to continuing to work with TELUS Mobility to extend and differentiate these offerings going forward."
