Prominence Networks Announces MediaIP Service Control Solution

Addressing the critical need for guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS) for delay-sensitive enterprise applications such as IP Telephony and IP Videoconferencing, Prominence Networks, Inc. announced the MediaIP Service Control Solution. The MediaIP Service Control Solution enables more cost effective and time efficient management of voice and video applications over converged networks, thereby substantially improving the business case for IP Telephony for enterprises, service providers and government agencies.

Specifically, the low cost, easy to configure and easy to administer MediaIP Service Control Solution builds upon the strengths of traditional QoS by also incorporating dynamic bandwidth control, application awareness, real-time monitoring, end-to-end traffic engineering, and auto-provisioning into a single automated system. Combined, these features extend existing functionality and enable enterprises and managed service providers to offer business-grade services with guaranteed quality and streamlined administration, while eliminating the hidden costs of convergence.

"Current solutions -- static policy based techniques and reactive quality-monitoring solutions -- have a limited network view and thus cannot adapt to the dynamic, real-time nature of IP voice and video," noted Sid Nag, Prominence Networks Founder and CEO. "By addressing the network as a whole and the dynamic nature of voice and video, MediaIP can guarantee end-to-end service quality, perform network wide call admission control, release unused bandwidth and increase call completion rates. This addresses
the hidden costs of convergence including the need to overprovision, increased administration and troubleshooting expenses, and additional costs for monitoring and management hardware and software."
