SGT awarded Volpe Transportation Information Project Support contract


(Corporate IT Update Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Engineering, science, project management and IT services provider Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies (SGT Inc) announced on Friday that the US Department of Transportation (DOT), Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center), has awarded the company the Volpe Transportation Information Project Support (V-TRIPS) Services Contract.



The multiple award contract has a value of USD234m over the next five years.

The Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center), part of the US DOT’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA), is a centre of transportation and logistics expertise. It has eight Centres of Innovation that focus on cross-cutting transportation, research, education, innovation and other multimodal issues and offer their services to DOT and non-DOT organisations.


According to the company, the V-TRIPS Contract is a multiple award contract vehicle with an IT functional scope of work. The IT support services cover five areas including: system analysis, development, operations and maintenance, deployment and field support; systems architecture and framework; facility and operations support; information system security; and technology assessments and modernisation.

The IT support services will be provided on a range of US national transportation system modes including aviation, surface, marine, pipeline and rail.
