Milk Launches milkXP with Top Creators and Real Educators to Help Close the Teen Relevance Gap

New free YouTube program by Milk pairs educators with popular creators including Ben Azelart, Lexi Rivera, Harper Zilmer and more to show teens how classroom learning can help fuel real-world goals

WASHINGTON, Sept. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Milk today launched milkXP, a free YouTube series that pairs real educators with popular creators Ben Azelart, Lexi Rivera, Harper Zilmer, Angelo BahuSeanDoesMagic, and Markell Washington to make useful, real-world topics teens are interested in learning about into engaging and relevant lessons. The program takes online learning to real-life application by helping connect the lessons to teens' everyday lives and goals.

Milk launches milkXP, a free digital program on YouTube designed to make educational content as engaging as the media teens already choose to consume.

The program launches alongside the new Relevance Gap Study, commissioned by Milk and conducted by The Harris Poll, which points to an overlooked dimension of the teen attention problem: teens may not only be distracted; they may disengage when what they are learning does not feel connected to their lives or futures. While 82% o teachers have observed declining classroom attentiveness, the findings suggest teens are not rejecting learning; they are seeking stronger connections between their education and the futures they want to build. More than half of teens (55%) say what they learn in school does not feel relevant to what they need for future success, and nearly all (97%) say they are less engaged when they cannot connect a lesson to their goals or interests. The findings highlight that nearly every teacher (99%) has taken steps to make coursework more relevant or engaging, so milkXP is an opportunity to support educators further by helping teens make stronger connections between classroom learning and their lives.

Yet teens are still eager to learn. Ninety-five percent say they would watch long-form educational YouTube content connecting school subjects with real-world opportunities, careers and goals. Sixty-nine percent already use YouTube several times a week or daily to learn something new, the highest of any platform measured in the study.

"Teens are hungry for lessons that feel relevant to their lives, but they also grow up in a digital environment that makes focus harder to protect," said Jennifer Grubb, Senior Marketing Manager at MilkPEP. "We designed milkXP to meet both realities, bring relevant topics to the platforms and formats teens already use while showing how milk can help fuel their focus throughout the day."

The program builds on milk's role as a nutrient-rich choice for teens. Nearly three-quarters of teens (74%) say they reach for a snack or drink when they need to focus on homework, while 94% say eating a nutritious breakfast or lunch makes concentrating easier. One eight-ounce serving of dairy milk provides 13 essential nutrients, some of which play an important role in helping teens stay focused and energized throughout their busy school schedules.

"Nutrition can help give growing teens a foundation for focus and learning. Dairy milk provides nutrients including vitamin B12, iodine, zinc and protein that support sustained energy, brain development, cognitive function, and focus making it a practical addition to meals and snacks throughout the day," said Lauren Manaker, MS, RDN, LDN. CLEC.

In each milkXP episode, an educator teams up with a creator to explore a topic teens want to understand through the storytelling and pacing they expect and genuinely enjoy online. Accompanying quizzes and resources encourage teens to move beyond passive scrolling and apply what they learn off-screen. Each episode is guided by the Milk Flow State Framework, a digital content scorecard developed with digital wellness expert Dr. Michael Rich, to help ensure that content is age-appropriate, participatory and purposeful. Education expert Dr. Gregory Barton created the program's foundational curriculum and reviewed each episode for educational value, clarity, and curriculum alignment. He also appears as a featured teacher in milkXP content, working alongside creators to bring the curriculum to life.

"Focus improves when young people understand why something matters and are invited to actively participate," said Dr. Michael Rich. "The internet can be an incredible place to explore new ideas, but a strong digital experience should not simply hold a teen's attention. It should help them direct that attention toward a meaningful goal."

The initial milkXP semester explores financial literacy, one of the subjects teens connect most closely with their future goals. According to the Relevance Gap Study, 43% of teens identify finance and money skills as highly relevant to their futures, while more than half rank financial literacy, the stock market and cryptocurrency among the top two topics they most wish schools taught more often.

The series premieres September 15 with Harper Zilmer and educator Dr. Gregory Barton on YouTube at @milkXPofficial. Additional creator collaborations and episodes will be released throughout the fall, building a free content library for teens, families and educators. Additional content, resources and information about milkXP and the Relevance Gap Study is available at gonnaneedmilk.com/milkxp and across @milkXPofficial social handles.

Harper Zilmer stars as the debut creator featured in milkXP, drinking dairy milk because its nutrients help teens lock in and focus.

Creator Harper Zilmer teaches milkXP teacher Dr. Gregory Barton how to make a milk ad, promoting that milk’s nutrients can help teens stay focused.
