JPXI Adds New Ownership Datasets to J-Quants Pro

Today, JPX Market Innovation & Research, Inc. (JPXI)(TOKYO:8697), a leading global provider of Japanese financial market data, added "Ownership Data" to J-Quants Pro, a data distribution service offering corporate users insightful data on Japanese financial markets. This data package provides centralized access to information on shareholders of listed companies and consists of three datasets: Large Shareholding Reports, Major Shareholders, and Policy Shareholdings.

Ownership Data (New Dataset)

This dataset offers comprehensive information related to shareholders of Japanese listed stocks. This offering consists of the following three datasets:

Large Shareholding Reports Data

This dataset extracts and provides structured information on large shareholders from statements of large-volume holdings filed via EDINET. Data is delivered promptly after filing on EDINET, enabling users to quickly track changes in large shareholders. Amendment reports are also included, allowing users to view the status of large shareholders over time. Historical data is available from July 1, 2021. The dataset also includes the following items:

• Purpose of holding shares
• Material proposals
• Material contracts such as collateral agreements
• Acquisitions or disposals during the last 60 days
• Details of funds used to acquire the shares

Major Shareholders Data

This dataset provides structured information on major shareholders as reported in annual securities reports, and covers information from June 1, 2016. It includes shareholders with holdings of less than 5%, which are not covered by statements of large-volume holdings, enabling a more comprehensive analysis of shareholder composition.

Policy Shareholdings (Cross-Shareholdings) Data

This dataset provides structured information on policy shareholdings (cross-shareholdings) as disclosed in annual securities reports, and covers information from March 31, 2020. It offers data not only on the filing company but also on the consolidated companies with the largest and second largest number of shareholdings (specified investment shares and deemed holdings). EDINET codes and issue codes are assigned to each holding, making it easy to link with other datasets and conduct cross-sectional analysis.

The Ownership Data package covers all Japanese companies listed in Japan, acting as a centralized source for information on shareholders. It is suitable for a wide range of uses, such as governance analysis, engagement, and event-driven strategies.
