EWI and Technical Toolboxes Announce Joint Industry Project

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov 20, 2008 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --
Program to Develop Fitness-for-Service Software for Integration with IDMS
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- EWI and Technical Toolboxes Inc. (TTI) announced today that it plans to form an industry-funded joint industry project to develop fitness-for-service software for conducting API 579 calculations.

Henry Cialone, CEO and President of EWI said, "The recent upgrade from API 579 (2000) to API 579/ASME FFS-1 (2007) has opened up opportunities to develop a new approach to fitness-for-service calculations and data management. We believe participants in this program will benefit by directing the overall development of the software to meet participant needs now while setting the foundation for future enhancements of the application."

The proposed software will allow the user to evaluate the various input variables and assess the resultant changes in an easy-to-use, Windows-based software package. It will include all aspects of the new API 579/ASME FFS1 fitness-for-service assessments and the appropriate software back-bone infrastructure for data exchange and integration with inspection data management systems (IDMS).

Joe Summa, President of Technical Toolboxes, stated, "This software will allow the assessments to be directly connected to anticipated facility performance, existing data, and future data for risk based inspection (RBI) management - giving its users the ability to perform real-time risk based assessments of a company's assets as well as automated scheduling of risk based inspections."

This joint industry project will be the framework by which an all encompassing API 579 FFS software package will be developed that meets the specific needs of the sponsors and industry as a whole. If you would like to participate in the project, please contact Nate Ames at 614.688.5135 or [email protected].
