Just today, the Slacker Company debuted Austin City Limits 2011, an official radio station that features all of the best highlights from the bands and artists performing at this year’s annual Austin City Limits Music Festival. Not near a radio? Don’t fret; this station can be easily listened to online just by clicking the Slacker Festivals/Events section, or on your smartphone or iPad.
Tons of great things are happening right now in Austin, as ITEXPO West 2011 opened its door today and will be concluding on September 15—an event that brings together the best and brightest in the communications and technology industries. Right on the heels of ITEXPO (News - Alert) and slated to take place from September 16 – 18, 2011, the Austin City Limits Music Festival, will be held in Austin, Texas’ Zilker Park with over 130 artists scheduled to rock out on an impressive eight stages. Slacker’s Austin City Limits 2011 station plays music from the festival’s broad range of bands and artists such as Stevie Wonder, Coldplay, Kanye West, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Santigold and Sara Bareilles, a press release revealed.
Already have plans or need to go to that dreaded place called work? Again, dry those eyes, because the Austin City Limits 2011 station can be listened to at anytime—either before, during and even after the festival, and also allows for users to have the ability to personalize their station to their own personal music preferences.
“The Austin City Limits 2011 station is a great way for music fans to experience the ACL Festival, whether they are attending or not,” said Scott Riggs, director of radio at Slacker in a statement. “Listeners can enjoy music by the artists they already love, discover new favorites and, because the station is hosted by Slacker, personalize the station to cater to their own musical tastes.”
Listeners who miss out on this concert can still enjoy all of the music, as the performances along with artist profiles, album reviews and album cover art offers users the chance to pretend like they are there, even if it just for the duration of a few songs.
In related news, Rich Tehrani (News - Alert) CEO of TMCnet recently spoke about his thorough enjoyment of Slacker radio saying, “I really love this service – when I want to hear a particular song, quite often it is available. Sometimes I have found that Slacker finds the song I want but doesn’t allow me to play it. In these cases it creates a custom radio station which quite often will play the song I was seeking.”
