iPhone Suppliers Churning Out Components at Super Fast Pace

By Oliver VanDervoort, Contributing Writer

While the iPhone 5 hasn’t even been officially recognized by Apple (News - Alert), the companies that are making the parts for it are expecting huge sales numbers. Most people believe that the iPhone 5 will hit the market this October. Industry analysts also believe that Sprint may join the list of cell phone providers that are selling the iPhone (News - Alert).

Should AT&T’s merger with T-Mobile (News - Alert) go through, that will add another base of customers that didn’t have access to the iPhone before. The impending release along with a group of heretofore untouched customer base has Foxconn churning out components as fast as they can.

Apple has learned some hard lessons from some of their earlier iPhones, such as the 3GS which had quite a few overheating issues. Should there be unseen issues such as those that plagued the 3GS there are going to be quite a few phones with those problems. Industry reports say that Foxconn is currently working to put together 150,000 iPhone 5’s a day meaning there will be five or six million ready for shipping by the end of September. At the end of the quarter, Apple is looking to be able to ship about 22 million units.

The fact that Apple has yet to even admit such a device as the iPhone 5 exists hasn’t stopped the rumor mill. Most websites are so certain that the phone will be released in October that they act as if there was an official release confirming the date. Other rumors are saying that the iPhone 5 will be including the A5 processor as well as an 8 mega pixel phone. The newest iteration of the iPhone is also expected to be thinner based on cases that certain people in the know have seen.

The Sprint (News - Alert) rumors have been so insistent that again, it appears that most people are treating it as fact. When news leaked that Sprint was having companywide meetings in late September it was assumed that it was to discuss the iPhone 5. One thing is sure is that if and when the iPhone 5 hits the market; even the increased production will have problems meeting the demand at first.
