What Exciting Technologies Can You Find in Today's Pod Vaping Systems?

The release of the JUUL e-cigarette in 2015 sparked a revolution in the vaping industry and changed people’s expectations about what a vaping device for beginners should look like and how it should work. In the past, smokers who converted to vaping usually started with simple cigarette-shaped vaping devices because those were the products that they saw in convenience stores and gas stations. They quickly discovered that the cigarette-shaped devices didn’t work very well, and so they moved on to larger devices that produced bigger and more satisfying clouds.

Pod systems, however, completely changed that pattern. For the first time since vaping had been invented, a person could switch to vaping and reasonably expect his or her first vaping product to be completely satisfying. Most of the people who bought JUUL – or the many JUUL clones that quickly appeared – had no reason to even consider buying larger vape mods; they were completely happy with what they had.

All of that changed for vapers in the United States, though, when the U.S. government formally banned pre-filled vaping pods in flavors other than tobacco and menthol. Tobacco in particular is widely considered one of the worst-tasting e-liquid flavors, though, and the flavor ban sent vapers across the U.S. scrambling for a solution. The government allowed bottled e-liquids to remain exempt from the ban, so the logical solution for anyone looking for a JUUL alternative was – and still is – to buy a refillable pod system.

So, are you still on the hunt for a perfect JUUL alternative that brings back the sense of fun you experienced when you tried vaping for the first time? The next time you visit a site like Premium Vape, these are some of the exciting new technologies that you’ll find in the new generation of refillable pod vaping systems.

Better Battery Life and Larger Pods

One of the greatest shortcomings of the JUUL and similar devices is that they’re simply not designed for all-day use. Between those devices’ poor battery life and extremely small pods, there’s almost no way that you’ll ever get through an entire day of vaping without charging the device or replacing the pod at least once. Charging the battery may just be a minor inconvenience, but if a pod doesn’t last through a full day, that’s another matter entirely given the extremely high cost of pre-filled pods.

Compared to the small pre-filled pod-based devices that beginning vapers use, a device with refillable pods will almost always have dramatically better battery life and much larger pods. The fact that you can vape for an entire day after charging your device and filling your pod just once will be a real game changer in terms of the enjoyment you derive from vaping.

Refillable Pods

If you’ve never used a pod system with refillable pods before, it’s difficult to adequately describe the many ways in which owning a refillable device will change your vaping experience. You already know that using a vaping device that you can fill yourself is the only way to get around the U.S. flavored pod ban, but what you may not know is that, even before the ban, there wasn’t a single pre-filled vaping device on the planet with a flavor selection that could compare to the variety you can experience when you buy bottled e-liquid. The jump from a selection of just a few flavors to a selection of hundreds will reinvigorate your vaping experience in ways you can’t begin to imagine.

The other enormous benefit of using a device you can fill yourself is the fact that bottled e-liquid costs significantly less per milliliter than pre-filled pods. Consider the price of JUUL pods, for instance – they typically cost around $16 per four-pack, and a pack of four pods contains just 2.8 ml of e-liquid. Bottled nicotine salt e-liquid, on the other hand, usually comes in a size of 30 ml and costs about the same as a pack of JUUL pods. If you’re currently using any pre-filled pod system, you are paying way too much to vape. You’ll save hundreds of dollars per year with a refillable device.

Wattage Controls

Another shortcoming of most vaping devices with pre-filled pods is that you can’t do anything to adjust the warmth or volume of vapor that comes out of the device. Do you think that a particular e-liquid would taste a bit better if you could bump the temperature up or cool it down a bit? With a pre-filled device, you’re out of luck. The only experience you’ll ever have is the one that device was designed to produce.

With many refillable pod systems, you’ll get something that pre-filled devices lack – a fire button – that you can use to activate the device for vaping and to switch between different temperature levels. The ability to control your device’s operational wattage is an eye-opening feature on its own, but you’ll also love owning a vaping device that uses a manual fire button instead of an automatic puff sensor. Since you can press the button before you begin inhaling, a manual vaping device doesn’t have the slight delay that you experience when puffing on a device with an automatic sensor. It’s yet another way in which a refillable device can make your vaping experience more immediate and more satisfying.

Replaceable Coils

One of the major shortcomings of any pod vaping system is the need to replace the entire pod when the atomizer coil’s performance begins to decline. When a vaping device’s flavor quality or vapor production begins to decline, it’s the atomizer coil – not the plastic enclosure around it – that’s to blame. With that in mind, many modern pod systems give you the ability to replace the atomizer coil independently of the rest of the pod. Not only does that make those devices even more affordable to own – a replacement coil costs less, after all, than an entire pod – but it also opens the door to even more new experiences. Many pod systems have several types of replacement coils available, and each one alters the device’s performance to give you slightly different flavors and different levels of airflow and vapor production.
