7 Ways that AI Will Continue to be Integrated into Society According to Rodney Don Holder

As a property security expert, Rodney Don Holder is excited about advances in artificial intelligence (AI). In spite of paranoia surrounding the world of AI, it is by and large improving humanity’s quality of life. Here are Rodney Don Holder’s top 7 ways that AI will continue to be successfully integrated into society.

1. Identity Theft Protection

One of the banes of human existence in the 21st Century is the threat of identity theft. Snatching credit card numbers and social security information can leave innocent people in a serious crisis. However, thanks to advances in artificial intelligence, engineers are building systems that get smarter at catching fraudulent activity.

Not only are credit bureaus employing some of these AI systems, but banks and medical facilities are as well. According to Rodney Don Holder, AI will not only track consistent fraudulent behaviors, but it can also learn nuance in the way that actual card and account owners use their accounts in a variety of situations. Fraudulent activity that deviates from these client-specific habits can trigger additional authentication measures.

2. Security Systems

For home and business security, armed systems can pose as much of a nuisance as unarmed systems pose a threat. For example, many children unintentionally set off a home security system. Other times, property managers forget to turn the security system on when leaving the property.

These are just a couple of the common pain points that artificial intelligence is beginning to address in modern-day security systems. According to Rodney Don Holder, AI teaches the security system to adapt to the inhabitants’ idiosyncratic behavior, so as to compensate for forgetfulness or simply make life more convenient without compromising property security.

3. Search Engines and Relevant Information

Google (News - Alert), the world’s leading search engine, works as a result of powerful algorithms programmed by software engineers. Rodney Don Holder states these search engines adapt and learn based on the kind of information web users seek, find, view on a page for several minutes, or leave the page within a few seconds to find something else. In the words of Elon Musk, “We [humans] are already cyborgs,” because a person with a smartphone can find any information available on the web with a simple search as an extension of their brain.

Gone are the days when mankind must find a library to answer their questions. Some of the best information is seconds away, thanks to the AI behind search engines.

4. Traffic Safety

While the world has yet to see the adoption of fully driverless cars on public roadways, Tesla’s autopilot system is already increasing road safety by using sensors to match the speed of traffic and prevent dangerous collisions. It effectively reduces the risks posed by careless or aggressive driving.

In less futuristic applications, artificial intelligence is already improving traffic flow in GPS programs on smartphones (such as Google Maps) and traffic lights. These advances will only improve as software and their engineers collect more data with which to adapt.

5. New High-Skilled Jobs

While it is true that artificial intelligence is eliminating jobs and entire companies, it is also increasing the demand for new skilled jobs. Forbes noted last year:

Machines and algorithms in the workplace are expected to create 133 million new roles, but cause 75 million jobs to be displaced by 2022 according to a new report from the World Economic Forum (WEF) called “The Future of Jobs 2018.” This means that the growth of artificial intelligence could create 58 million net new jobs in the next few years.

While some employers are taking it upon themselves to retrain their own staff, Rodney Don Holder states many people are using a wide range of free or low-cost self-training courses (thanks in large part to the AI capabilities of search engines) to join the fast-developing job market in robotics, software engineering, and app development.

6. Marketing

Thanks to artificial intelligence, more and more great purchases are made without the coercion of desperate salespeople and brokers. Customers can shop, compare, access certified buyer reviews, and more with today’s AI marketing capabilities. Instead of being bombarded with advertisements, marketing AI pinpoints “the best fit” between product/service and customer. The effect not only removes the annoying salesperson but also decreases the risk of buyer’s remorse.

7. Media

Video and CD stores have nearly all been replaced with online streaming. The advent of Netflix and her competitors are improving the selection of movies and shows as artificial intelligence learns the preferred viewing habits of customers. Pandora’s music genome project now takes many alternative forms in her competitors, further improving the world of music.

The Bottom Line

Above are just seven of the ways that artificial intelligence is going to continue to influence society; however, this is by no means an exhaustive list. Rodney Don Holder expects that AI will disrupt several more industries and provide a more integrated society for the mass public.
