Are You Ready for the Food Safety Modernization Act?

The FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act was first introduced in 2011. Originally, its aim was to increase oversight into the quality of manufactured food. Today, further changes are anticipated that will affect both domestic and international farmers who are forced to comply with the law.



In response to these changes, however, many industry leaders have voiced concerns about the law’s restrictions around fertilizer, pesticide and irrigation. As a result, the FDA is now in the process of taking industry-wide comments for its upcoming Environmental Impact Statement.
