Cloud Adoption Growing in Every Market

By Michelle Amodio, TMCnet Contributor

RingCentral (News - Alert), available from the erstwhile Android marketplace now known as Google Play, is an app that lets you take everything on the go – calls, voicemails, and even faxes. As an alternative to Google (News - Alert) Voice, RingCentral is based on cloud technology and puts the power of IP communications in a smart device, as well as a virtual phone system.

The company recently showcased its cloud business phone solution at this year’s ITEXPO (News - Alert) East in Miami, Florida. Featuring tools like Business SMS, which allows users to use their business numbers and extensions to text with customers, colleagues and departments using their own mobile devices, as well as Cloud Touch, which enables administrators and employees to install, manage and access the phone system via mobile devices, the solution offers cost-savings for businesses with mobile and distributed workforces.

The company recently received PC Magazine’s Editors’ Choice Award for excellence in cloud business, as well as Best of Show at ITEXPO Miami.

RingCentral surveyed over 300 of their customers about mobile device adoption and cloud use and found that 57 percent of business owners responded that the majority of their business-critical applications are currently run in the cloud. The study also revealed that heavy reliance on cloud services coincides with a dramatic increase in tablet adoption among business owners.

“We’re seeing that the cloud is fundamentally changing the way businesses operate,” said Naveen Gupta, chief product officer at RingCentral. “Legacy hardware and systems no longer fit the way modern businesses work. Small and mid-sized businesses are adopting solutions that are flexible, mobile and affordable, and the survey data clearly speaks to this trend.”

This survey was conducted amongst small and medium-sized businesses, however the enterprise is market is advancing towards cloud computing.

“As cloud has matured, and the feature set has become more rich and reliable, we see our customers pull at the market, both business owners and IT pros.
