Whaleback Managed Services' Karil Reibold to Discuss Expanding VoIP Services, SIP Trunking at ITEXPO Austin 2012

The company will be attending ITEXPO (News - Alert) Austin 2012, the world’s largest communications and technology event held in Austin, Texas from Oct. 2-5.

“It’s really a good place for a lot of collaboration around issues that we face from a communications perspective,” said Karil Reibold (News - Alert), CEO and president of Whaleback Managed Services, about attending ITEXPO Austin. “I’m really excited about the mobility component as well as video and SIP. Looking at solutions for our customers, we have a big focus this year on communications-enabled business processes and moving beyond just UC, or expanding on our UC platform, and I look at it as an opportunity to interface with a lot of potential partners.”

Reibold will be speaking at two panel sessions next week. The first, “Financial Models and Economics for Expanding VoIP Services,” will consider high level business models for introducing new services like wholesale termination, SIP trunking and hosted PBX services using the latest engineering methods and financial estimates. The session is held with Sonus Networks (News - Alert), CounterPath and HD Voice News on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 1:00 p.m.

“This is a really important one because there’s a number of different ways to deploy VoIP services, both in the cloud as well as what we are, which is a hybrid cloud,” said Reibold. “What’s interesting about the panel is that we are partners with CounterPath (News - Alert) for our soft phone and mobile applications, and we also are partnered with Sonus for our switching equipment. It’s interesting to be on the panel with them because we partner with them from different perspectives and it should be a very good panel discussion both around mobility, cloud services and then hybrid cloud.”

The second panel session Reibold will be speaking at is “Today’s Service Provider – More Than Just SIP Trunks,” held on Friday, Oct. 5 at 9:00 a.m. As service providers continue to evolve, they are offering a greater variety of products and services besides just dial tone. Today’s service providers offer a range of unified communications services so they and their resellers can provide more robust and complete communications solutions to customers, such as SMS messaging, fax, shortcode messaging, colocation hosting and cloud-based IP PBX (News - Alert) systems. This session will discuss not only what these additional revenue generating services are, but how you can package them effectively for maximum profitability.

“Our product was built from the ground up to run over SIP trunks. We are a managed service, so I think the concept of today’s service provider being much more than just SIP trunks for Whaleback really hits home because we have the ability to deploy over our SIP trunks or other carrier SIP trunks. We provide a managed service around that – it’s end to end, we manage everything from the handset to call completion and we do that in a proactive way. That’s also a really important topic as SIP trunks evolved to the premise that we’re uniquely positioned there.

Reibold has more than 20 years of experience in holding “C” level positions, helping companies to define their organization strategy and how they execute to achieve results that drive stakeholder value. In 2008 she joined Whaleback Managed Services as CEO and President, and has increased revenue for 16 consecutive quarters, established Whaleback’s best-in-class managed service, broadened the service offering and improved margins by over 110 percent.

ITEXPO will explore many other topics and trends, from selling VoIP and unified communications via channel partners to making social media actionable through real-time response, escalation and closure.

Trends in the industry that Reibold expects to see debated next week are “definitely mobility and bring your own device. I’m interested to see where people are in terms of video and collaboration depending on what segment of the market they address. SIP trunking, as that evolves with the introduction of video, is going to be a good debate next week.”
