Chris Brenton of CloudPassage will join a panel discussion called “IT Risk Management: Securing the Cloud and the Enterprise” at ITEXPO (News - Alert) East on Wednesday, February 1, at 2:30 p.m. ITEXPO East, which is sponsored by TMCnet, will take place in Miami Beach, Florida, between January 31 and February 3.

Brenton has a long history of expertise related to cloud server security. He worked as a founding member of the original Honeynet Project, an organization devoted to investigating security breaches around the world and developing open source security solutions to meet those threats.

Brenton also was of the original handlers at the Internet Storm Center, which provides free warning and analysis services to many individuals and organizations while working with providers to fight back against malicious attackers. In addition, he helped to found Dartmouth’s Institute of Security Technology Studies and served as CSO for ALTeNet, one of the United States’ first managed security providers.

In addition to his past experience with security, Brenton currently instructs security professionals at the SANS Institute (News - Alert), which operates the Internet Storm Center and teaches IT professionals to defend their systems and networks against active threats. He also works as a cloud security architect for CloudPassage, a recognized cloud security provider.

The IT Risk Management panel will discuss IT management and security, including specifics about security and the cloud environment. Included in the discussion will be best practices concerning the security of IT infrastructure, systems, network, applications and data as well as compliance with existing laws and regulations. Panelists will also discuss the importance of security in all enterprises to ensure smooth operations, uninterrupted customer service and positive reputations in today’s marketplace.

The material delivered in the IT Risk Management workshop is based on numerous security reviews and audits that panelists have conducted over years of delivering IT service and support to hundreds of organizations. Attendees will learn about the drivers for sound IT Risk Management and Security as well as learning about the most common weaknesses and threats found in today’s enterprises.

Brenton is the author of several books on both networking and network security and has been credited with discovering many security vulnerabilities. He will be joined by other expert panelists including Jim Doherty of Certes Networks and Dan Glennon of Cybera, Inc. Tom Keating of TMC (News - Alert) will moderate the event.
