Google (News
- Alert)+ seems to be what every social media lover is about right now, but according to Google+ analytics site Social Statistics, 8.67 out of 10 Google+ users are male. Yup, you heard me -- almost every Google+ user boasts the XY chromosome.
Sound weirds, but if you look a little closer, you will be surprised to see that the top 10 most popular users on the website are all male including Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg (News - Alert), Google CEO Larry Page and Google+ mastermind Vic Gundotra. The only popular female user is acclaimed actress Felicia Day.
According to a recent Yahoo article, a reason behind this male domination could be related to the fact that a majority of early adopters in the technology industry are usually of the male species.
Even though it looks like this website is in strong need of some estrogen, the newly launched social networking site is attracting users like flies, as Google has stated that over 10 million profiles are currently on the site.
During Google’s earning call yesterday in which Page spoke, it was revealed that Google has earned an astounding $9.03 billion during the second quarter of 2011. Compared to last year, that is a 32 percent increase, an impressive gain.
It has been shown that Google+ has a significant amount of users, but how can the website draw in more female clients? My guess is it that after single women find out about the extremely male-dominated website, they will be lining up to join like it’s the first day of a Bloomingdales sale.
