By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor
VoIPSwitch has announced the latest release of the Vippie for iPhone (News - Alert), a new feature that allows for selling services through iTunes. With this feature, users can create a new account in just one click. Vippie can also be used to top-up an account by a selected amount.
The app is designed to ask for account details such as username and password and initial payment. Users can also opt to implement a service plan. Once this information is submitted, the user is promoted for his or her iTunes account password and payment is taken directly from the iTunes account.
Payment is processed and instantly, a new account is created and the softphone is ready to use. Vippie for iPhone is designed to provide users with a convenient and secure way of making payment for services as a it does not require the user to enter any credit card information.
This new application is designed to take online transactions to the next level through iTunes.
The security and ease of use is also expected to appeal to users who continue to demand bigger and better mobile apps to enhance their overall experience.
VoIPSwitch made the Vippie available for the App Store back in September. Officials with VoIPSwitch said the version available on the App store enables only Wi-Fi connectivity with support for both Wi-Fi as well as 3G, Edge and GPRS available here.
The company also announced a new softphone for Android (News - Alert) that was in the testing phase last fall. Scheduled for release by mid-October, the addition of this softphone will mean the company offers a full range of softphones for all mobile operating systems.
