Quintum VoIP Products Now NexTone-Compatible

Johanne Torres, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Quintum's (News - Alert) VoIP products—including the company's Tenor line of VoIP switches and gateways, have now been certified as NexTone-compatible with NexTone's Multiprotocol Session Exchange (MSX).
NexTone has awarded Quintum's VoIP products with a NetworkReady certification. This particular certification confirms that Quintum's products have successfully completed thorough testing to prove interoperability with the specified versions of the products that comprise the NexTone IntelliConnect System.
According to NexTone, by interoperating with its MSX, Quintum will now be able to provide premises-based services to those providers interfacing with different equipment in a provider's point of presence (POP), or IP network hub. The certification will also allow Quintum to offer services from the POP to the customer premises.
NexTone and Quintum announced that they will also market SIP Trunking bundles to service providers so they can then extend their VoIP communications services to their own SMB customers. The SIP Trunking offering can enable service providers to converge voice and data onto one IP connection, therefore reducing VoIP-based calling costs and improve its quality.
"As Quintum evaluates partnerships we look to associate ourselves with market leaders that enhance the use of our VoIP products and offer customers complete solutions. NexTone is a well-known name in the space for service provider edge equipment and is a recognized session management leader with global service providers," commented Quintum's vice president of marketing Chuck Rutledge, in a statement.
"With NexTone's session border control to the network and Quintum's innovative VoIP switch and gateway products at the business premise, we complete both access sides of the equation for the service provider and enable our customers to deploy a trusted, comprehensive solution for VoIP," he said.
Today's news comes on the heels of Quintum's announcement yesterday about it being selected for a VoIP deployment for Coppel, a Mexican retailer. Coppel worked with Binnacle for this VoIP network deployment project. Binnacle recommended Quintum VoIP switches and gateways to be installed for Coppel's heterogeneous PBX network, as they would support analog and modem-based devices, as well as fax machines.
