VoIP switch solutions help businesses create robust converged local area network (LAN) topology. These switch solutions are designed specifically to handle any organization’s existing or future real-time voice requirements.

Phybridge (News - Alert) first launched its data switch line with the UniPhyer just over four years ago. 

Phybridge is now seeking funds to expand to the global market. The company has received funding from the MaRS Investment Accelerator Fund and is seeking another $5 million round in order to expand to a global market.

The company recently introduced Phybridge PoLRE (Power over Long Reach Ethernet) switch family which is capable of delivering Ethernet and Power over Ethernet over a single pair of voice-grade copper wire, with 4 times the reach of traditional Ethernet switches.

The PoLRE switch combines unique single-pair Ethernet with robust power capabilities to provide the most reliable platform for IP Telephony deployments, the company said.  The two-wire Ethernet technology creates a network that provides power over Ethernet, a separate voice path for VoIP and a data path for local network services and Internet connectivity.

The technology also extends four times further than traditional data switches, according to Graham Brown, a spokesperson for Phybridge. The advantage of Phybridge is that it delivers the telephony separately, so even if the office LAN crashes, the phones stay online.

Phybridge has partnered with some of the leading communications technology providers, which includes an OEM partnership with Mitel (News - Alert).   Under this partnership Mitel sells the VoIP switch from Phybridge as a StreamLine Switch to a global market.

Avaya, another Phybridge partner, has agreed to market the network switches through its partner community. Phybridge has also partnered with carriers such as Verizon (News - Alert), Frontier Network and Bell Canada.

Phybridge faces tough competition from VoIP switch providers like Sippy Software. In a recent announcement, Sippy Software unveiled a robust payment solution designed for Internet telephony service providers (ITSPs), calling card providers, call shops and mobile and fixed line telecommunications operators, among others.
