GENBAND (News - Alert), a provider of IP infrastructure and application solutions including VoIP switches and networking solutions, has just revealed that TelstraClear (News - Alert), a telecommunications provider in New Zealand, has selected GENBAND solutions in order to create an IP-based voice network.

The telco has deployed the GENBAND solution powered by the C20 Converged IP Softswitch and A2 Communications Application Server. It allows TelstraClear to expand its IP interconnect capabilities with other service providers both nationally and internationally at multiple centers.

"Supporting TelstraClear's bold vision for delivering all-IP voice and multimedia services to New Zealand has been a tremendous opportunity for GENBAND and meshes perfectly with our IP infrastructure and network transformation team," said Dave Shier, GENBAND's senior vice president of Sales for the Asia Pacific region, in a statement.

"Our portfolio unlocks the latest in IP services for residential, business and government customers, while significantly lowering infrastructure costs and establishing a future-proof foundation for ongoing IP enhancements," Shier added.

GENBAND C20 VoIP switch delivers world-class IP capabilities, reduces power and real estate costs, and creates robust opportunities for new services and higher revenue. GENBAND's A2 Communications Application Server comes with fully integrated multimedia applications for voice, video, conferencing, instant messaging, presence, collaboration and mobility.

"By completing this groundbreaking national IP voice services modernization program, TelstraClear becomes the first full service provider in New Zealand to create an IP-based network capable of offering customers a full nationwide footprint for voice products over all network types, including the new government-funded ultra-fast broadband," Brenda Stonestreet, TelstraClear head of Operations commented.

Stonestreet further said GENBAND’s migration expertise and IP solutions have provided the company with a future-proof roadmap. “ Since New Zealand cities are susceptible to being isolated during natural disasters due to its population spread over two elongated islands, our national, carrier-grade IP voice network will be highly available during ordinary to extra ordinary disruption."
