TransNexus (News - Alert), a provider of VoIP solutions for managing wholesale VoIP networks, has just launched the latest version of its VoIP Least Cost Routing software.
NexOSS 5.0, the latest VoIP Least Cost Routing software from TransNexus, comes with a new fraud detection feature, which is designed to address traffic pumping fraud in the VoIP industry. This feature, according to company officials, adds an additional layer of analysis and protection to the VoIP solution.
“Fraud has been an issue for traditional telephone companies for years,” Jim Dalton (News - Alert), president of TransNexus said in a statement, “but it was never a factor for VoIP services until recently. More and more, we hear about SIP phones and SIP PBXs that have been hacked and utilized to make unauthorized calls costing thousands of dollars.”
NexOSS 5.0, together with the TransNexus OSPrey routing server are designed to deliver a number of VoIP solutions and services including least cost routing, number portability, quality of service (QoS) controls, traffic analysis and billing reports to VoIP carriers.
Additionally, the VoIP solution now features a smart monitoring tool that detects any unusual spike in call traffic to a specific destination. Whenever such a change is detected, the system automatically blocks the route temporarily and sends SNMP and e-mail alarms to the user.
“This release of NexOSS addresses the major issues reported by our customers,” Dalton added. “With the addition of the fraud detection and QoS monitoring features, NexOSS 5.0 is leading the way in next generation least cost routing and VoIP network management.”
The integrated quality of service (QoS) alarm is a new feature that gives NexOSS the ability to monitor 24 different call quality statistics. By monitoring features such as packet latency, packet jitter and packet loss, the VoIP solution can detect and isolate call fidelity-related quality of service issues. If any provider identifies such an issue, the TransNexus software can then suspend that user from the routing table.
In related news, TransNexus revealed that it will be demonstrating the NexOSS V5 at the ITEXPO (News - Alert) East Conference in Miami, FL.
