VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) solutions have forever changed the way businesses communicate. These solutions enable various communications and applications, including multimedia conferencing, call centers, instant messaging and e-mail, to work simultaneously, yet cost-effectively.
David Meintjes, managing director of Connection Telecom, stated in an article featured on itnewsafrica.com that “in recent years, voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) has proved itself a stable, quality successor to ‘dumb’ telephone systems, a technology that not only saves costs but also improves efficiency and enhances business processes.”
Through giving customers a way to host a VoIP solution infrastructure in the cloud, it allows them to gain access to a managed telephony service with all the benefits that are powered by a VoIP solution.
When seamlessly integrating a managed service into VoIP solutions in the cloud, obstacles such as version and feature upgrades can be taken care of by the provider without any affect to the service or business operations. Also, issues such as security and redundancy are now the provider’s responsibility and they can offer an increasingly reliable, quality service with the help of database replication, backup lines, etc., the article stated.
Additionally, when using a cloud service infrastructure, users now can forgo any upfront investment or any upgrade fees, due to the fact that with VoIP solutions everything is taken care of.
Detailed within the article, some examples of these types of savings offered through VoIP solutions include: “on-net” savings in which solely the provider’s network is used for calls between branches, to top suppliers, or between in-house mobile phones; least-cost routing, which enables the PBX (News - Alert) to allow for cellular-to-cellular, fixed-to-fixed and VoIP calls; per-second billing which has the potential to save an average of 25 percent in call charges; and Web integration in which customers can easily call in directly from click-to-call websites, thereby greatly reducing customer call charges.
As you can clearly see, cloud telephony further embellishes the many great advantages associated with VoIP, allowing for increased efficiency at a lower price.
