Empirix Inc., a provider of service quality assurance solutions for new IP communications, has announced the immediate availability of its “Hammer SIP Trunk Teste,” a new industry tool for automated testing and verification of enterprise SIP (Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert)) trunking services.
The system is designed to offer service providers an easy-to-use, automated tool that can cost-effectively verify media quality, provision capacity and other Quality-of-Service (QoS) metrics during service turn-up.
As enterprises continue to seek ways to reduce costs and enhance VoIP and multimedia communications capabilities within their SIP-based IP-PBXs and contact center, SIP trunking services are projected to be one of the largest growth areas for Internet and telephony service providers this year.
A popular replacement for legacy and expensive ISDN trunk lines, SIP trunks help organizations to save money through the offering of flexible bandwidth that can match demand more closely.
This technology also enables multiple voice, data and video services to be run over the same trunk, while offering more advanced capabilities in areas such as unified communications and improved integration with enterprise applications, including customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
“SIP trunking has emerged as a critical business solution for enterprises and service providers to reduce costs, improve quality and gain access to services. In order to ensure that its adoption and its benefits are realized, it is essential to verify the quality, reliability and scalability of SIP trunks prior to turn-up,” said Frost & Sullivan Analyst Olga Yashkova. “Empirix (News - Alert) has once again proven its market leadership and innovation by developing a first-to-market test solution that is specifically designed to ensure superior service quality over SIP/IP infrastructure.”
The Hammer SIP Trunk Tester is designed specifically for field engineers, network pre-deployment and service installation teams. This software-based test application measures connectivity, voice quality and other QoS metrics. At the same time, it isolates the SIP trunks from the enterprise infrastructure.
As a result, it provides a fast, cost-effective turn-up for SIP trunks – improving time-to-revenue, reducing late penalties and eliminating potential issues around the ownership of network problems.
Gordon Eddy (News - Alert), director of product management at Empirix, said, “Confidence is key to the success of SIP trunking services and Hammer SIP Trunk Tester gives both service providers and enterprise customers the assurance that their SIP-based services are running exactly as they should be before service is turned up.
Service providers can measure and verify baseline QoS metrics to establish cast iron Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with their enterprise customers,” Eddy added.
This latest testing option from Empirix is important for the industry as it offers automated testing for technology that is key to an enterprise’s ongoing performance. By developing a solution to address everyday challenges of meeting service standards while also maintaining costs, Empirix is likely to enjoy greater demand and market adoption.
