Zoiper, a provider of software phones (softphones), announced the latest version of Zoiper Mobile, a VoIP management app for iPone and Android (News - Alert).

The new VoIP management app simplifies automated provision for mobile devices. It allows VoIP users to self-provision their account settings, reducing the administrative burdens of VoIP account management. The software app scans a specially generated QR code to retrieve account data for their VoIP service.

The newest version of Zoiper Mobile allows users to self provision their VoIP service accounts as easy as taking a picture with the device camera to scan a QR code. Customers can access self-provisioning in a single tap. The screen then switches to “QR scan mode” and is ready to capture the image generated by the VoIP provider.

The service provider puts a QR image in their customer section. When the user scans the QR image with the handset camera, the information encoded in it is retrieved by Zoiper and thus the account is provisioned and registered.

The service is offered free of charge to end users, as well as service providers, system integrators, and anyone managing a hosted PBX (News - Alert). The self-provisioning for mobile using QR-codes is a unique way to reduce customer support costs using latest technology and save both users and providers time and resources.

The announcement comes on close heels with the company’s recent launch of free mobile apps for Zoiper IAX and SIP softphone.

Earlier in June the company launched Zoiper softphone for Android. Already freely available for iPhone (News - Alert)/iOS, Zoiper is now available free of charge to Android users. The Android version is available as a customized solution for PBX vendors, ITSPs and businesses.
