Voip-Pal.com Completes Beta Testing of Soft Switch VoIP Network Framework

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Voip-Pal.Com, a VoIP telecom company offering local and long distance VoIP services to consumers and business owners, announced it has successfully completed initial beta testing of its proprietary "Soft Switch" VoIP network framework.

The company has also acquired five patents from Digifonica International (Gibraltar) Limited.

These patents which describe mobile VoIP, billing methods, gateway infrastructure, and a whole pile of things, could ultimately allow VoIP-Pal to become a more powerful influence in the VoIP world, according to recent reports. These patents at the moment are used by the most prominent and profitable VoIP services

The new proprietary framework and intellectual property enable large scale VoIP equipment manufacturers and Network Service Providers (NSPs) to protect their corporate identity and provide unique, market leading products and solutions to their subscribers, the company said in a press release.

Through the licensed technology, the company also targets cellular telecommunications carriers, service providers and cable operators as potential licensees. With Voip-Pal’s patented technology, these customers can enable a WiFi (News - Alert)/WiMAX enabled cellular phone to "roam" between WiFi antennas (even on the same network).

"In addition to our ability to license these patents to major players in the VoIP industry we will have the ability to license our proprietary framework to other VoIP companies to enable to them to meet and/or exceed current and future regulatory requirements with respect to areas such as Lawful Intercept and Emergency Services," said Dennis Chang, president of Voip-Pal, in a statement.

"While our Licensing focus will target significant Partner/Subscribers, Voip-Pal will also be able to generate licensing revenue from the competition as well," Chang added.

The Rating-Billing-Routing engine (RBR) is a license for producing routing messages for VoIP communications. It allows new Licensees to perform subscriber management from their own existing subscriber management and billing platforms.

The Lawful Intercept patent is intended for intercepting VoIP communications and other data communications. It addresses the national and international demands by governments to enable law agencies the ability to perform scheduled and live intercepts (wiretaps) on Digital Voice telephone conversations.

Enhanced 911 patent or the Emergency Assistance calling for VoIP communications allows for Short Code/Emergency Dialing, giving the ability to enable true Emergency Calling solutions to Digital Voice subscribers.

Mobile Gateway (News - Alert) patent allows a single subscriber device to connect automatically to WiFi/WiMAX and other wireless data connections.

Uninterrupted Transmission of Internet Protocol Transmissions during Endpoint Changes patent allows the transfer of in-session digital voice calls between disparate wireless technologies, allowing roaming between different WiFi, WiMAX (News - Alert), 3G and 4G antenna technologies without losing a call.
