Sangoma Technologies Corporation with First Telecom announced that First Telecom, an authorized distributor of Sangoma’s voice cards and VoIP gateways. First Telecom will be providing a local contact for resellers in the Balkans.
“The adoption of open source telephony is increasing rapidly in the Balkans. After careful evaluation, along with our own long term deployment experience, we identified Sangoma as the true innovator and quality supplier for that market,” said Theodore Kotsireas, First Telecom Sales Manager.
“In one particular large-scale deployment, First Telecom enabled 30 interconnected IP-PBXs in Bosnian police stations using Sangoma's hardware. The distribution partnership is another step towards an already successful cooperation,” Kotsireas continued.
First Telecom’s initial focus, officials say, will be to recruit new resellers of PBX (News - Alert) solutions, specifically those working with products based on open source telephony projects.
Eythimios Delimichail, Product Manager for First Telecom said, “Unlike some of its main competitors, Sangoma offers support for a wide range of open source telecom applications and telephony protocols, and does not compete with its reseller channel.”
Sangoma officials said that the distribution partnership will facilitate expanded distribution of its products in Europe. Through this alliance, First Telecom will provide a sales channel and first line of support for Sangoma's Balkan customers.

Sangoma is a veteran innovator and supplier of PCI telephony cards compatible with major open source projects. The company recently announced that their NetBorder VoIP Gateway Cards that support both analog and digital interfaces started shipping.
Serge Forest, VP of Marketing at Sangoma Technologies (News - Alert) told TMCnet, “Sangoma has gone through extensive data, and we have now the whole chain for our ecosystem ready to go and we have applications partners that have integrated with us as well. This release really allows our application partners to do, in the PBX world, what open source and Asterisk (News - Alert) and other systems have done in the Linux world.”
NetBorder Express 2.0 includes a Web interface that takes care of installation, configuration, SIP to TDM gateway management, customizable tone processing features, and the new management console, offering lower-cost, easier deployments for developers and end users, company officials said.
