For a lot of users out there, Sangoma is one of the first names that leaps to mind when the issue of VoIP gateways, session border controllers (SBC) and similar technology comes up. To that end, Sangoma revealed earlier today that a deal has been struck with Montreal's Run Distribution to offer up Sangoma hardware to the small- and medium-sized business (SMB) customers that make up a good chunk of Run Distribution's customer list.
Under the terms of the agreement, Run Distribution gets access to several Sangoma products, like the Vega Series VoIP gateway, the NetBorder SBC and Sangoma's telephony boards as well. This addition gives Run Distribution and its resellers several new options and a note of extra credibility in the marketplace, especially given the growing number of Canadian businesses looking to get into advanced IP-based services, according to the vice president of Run Distribution, Ryan Mayoff. Mayoff further elaborated, suggesting that Sangoma's excellent product line gave Run Distribution a terrific new option that fit nicely into Run Distribution's corporate culture.
Sangoma, meanwhile--based on remarks from the sales director for global distribution at the company, Paul Rosemberg--is every bit as excited to start working with Run Distribution as Run Distribution is to work with Sangoma. More specifically, Rosemberg said, "Run Distribution is highly committed to delivering high quality solutions at very attractive price points. We are very pleased to join them in serving their many customers across Canada."
Indeed, on the surface, it looks like a solidly win-win situation for both Sangoma and Run Distribution. Run Distribution gets access to a product line that's proven itself in a variety of situations since the company's inception, and has made itself a solid part of many companies' communications lineups across over 150 different countries. Sangoma, meanwhile, gets a better foothold on the Canadian market--keeping in line with earlier reports that suggested Sangoma was out for expansion in North America--and access to Run Distribution's customer lineup, allowing it to better slip into companies that aren't already using Sangoma technologies, or may be looking to replace a competitors' line of products.
With Run Distribution providing boots on the ground to expand Sangoma’s reach, and Sangoma offering some terrific new possibilities for solutions that Run Distribution may well have not been previously able to offer solutions for, it's easy to see gain on both sides with this deal. While the ultimate effects of said deal remain to be seen, it's a safe bet that both Sangoma and Run Distribution will come out ahead.
