Neocenter of Mexico is now a value-added distributor (VAD) for Patton’s (News - Alert) IP networking equipment, including its market-leading VoIP gateways.
The partnership is focused on the SmartNode product line of VoIP gateways, routers, IADs and SBCs in the convergence market, Patton said in a recent statement.
“We are very pleased to provide the power and quality of SmartNode equipment to our customers,” said Alejandro Apan, Neocenter’s CEO. “Today’s converged applications demand high intelligence from the network edge.”
“SmartNode is an apt name for Patton’s convergence solutions,” Apan continues. “A simple gateway is not enough to implement complex business rules, deliver survivability, provide any-to-any interconnection, and efficiently utilize underlying infrastructure—all while processing and transporting converged voice, data and video. Such advanced functionality requires a very smart device.”
The announcement of the agreement comes shortly after a report of third quarter growth for Megacable’s VoIP services, and the recent Fox Sports announcement about an all-IP deployment in Mexico City with VoIP links to offices in Mexico, Argentina, as well as California.
“The timing is perfect,” said Ernesto Casas, Patton's regional director for Latin America and the Caribbean, about the new agreement. “VoIP technology has reached maturity. Five years ago it was still an experimental technology, but today’s Voice-over-IP deployments provide a stable communications infrastructure. Beyond reducing costs, converged-IP applications improve productivity while opening new ways to communicate and conduct daily life.”
Casas recently presented a keynote speech, "Beyond a Simple Gateway (News - Alert): Real Life Solutions,” at the ElastixWorld conference in Quito, Ecuador.
“Neocenter emerged as a clear leader in Mexico as I conducted my research,” Casas said. “Having scoured the market for months, I discovered Alejandro’s team of local experts. Neocenter distributes not just high-quality devices, but intelligence, knowledge and know-how. Neocenter supports their downstream reseller and integrator partners with valuable business tools that accelerate learning and reduce time to market.”
Neocenter SA de CV is the wholesaler and integrator of products and advanced applications for the design and implementation of voice-over-data networks (traditional and VoIP), promoting open standards telephony throughout Mexico and Latin America.

In other company news, TMCnet recently reported that Patton Electronics, a provider of telephony gear, is extending its well-received promotion on remote access server equipment through the end of this year. This continues Patton’s 20 percent discount on its DialFire Remote Access Servers.
