Miami Hotel Leverages Phybridge's 'VoIP Enabler' to Upgrade to IP Telephony

By Beecher Tuttle, TMCnet Contributor

Each day, more organizations make the transition to VoIP-based communication technologies, leaving behind their legacy phone systems that are less scalable and flexible, as well as more expensive to maintain.

Although the mass migration to IP telephony is an inevitability, it can still be a concerning proposition for organizations that just installed a new IP PBX (News - Alert) or that already have a LAN and are apprehensive about the substantial cost associated with an upgrade.

Enterprises and SMBs that want to deploy an effortless and cost-effective IP telephony solution may want to take a look at the Phybridge (News - Alert) UniPhyer, dubbed the VoIP enabler. This unique solution leverages existing legacy infrastructure to create a robust IP phone network.

The Palm Hotel and Spa in Miami recently partnered with Phybridge and is thrilled with the results. The South Beach hotel destination found itself in need of upgrading its telephony system to provide customers with next-generation IP phones and Ethernet services. However, the hotel was confronted with several LAN barriers that made the transition an issue.

To eliminate this concern, The Palms Hotel & Spa contacted Phybridge about its VoIP enabler solution, which helps provide the reliability of a legacy network and the cost-effective and flexible gains of IP phones – all through an easy, non-disruptive migration.

“Phybridge enabled us to move into the world of IP Telephony without the expense of remodeling,” Joan Rowland, director of IT at the hotel, noted in an emailed case study. “Deployment was easy on my part.”

The hotel transitioned 251 rooms over to IP using the Phybridge solution. The UniPhyer not only enables IP phone calls and next-gen Ethernet services, it also provides the hotel with support for future IP endeavors like IPTV (News - Alert).

In essence, the Phybridge VoIP enabler simplifies a rather complicated, yet inevitable transition to IP phones.

Phybridge will be exhibiting at HITEC 2011, a leading hospitality technology show, from June 20-23 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, TX. Stop by booth 1310 for more information on UniPhyer and the company’s other solutions.
