Aculab (News - Alert) has introduced a 2U rackmount chassis version of its GroomerII signaling and media gateway. 

This is newest addition to the GroomerII range that provides a comprehensive array of signaling and media conversion capabilities. The 2U GroomerII can accommodate 8, 16, or 24 E1/T1 trunks.

Applications delivered by GroomerII include SS7-to-SIP interconnection and routing, E1 to T1 encoding conversions, and a full-featured call manager. 

In addition the built-in routing and deployment proven protocol conversion capabilities enable interoperability across a converging landscape without the need for external softswitches, signaling gateways or media gateway controllers.

The server chassis has been certified compliant with the NEBS standards, making it suitable for installation within U.S.-based telco networks.
