Ascom Adds ApplianX DPNSS-to-Q.SIG Gateway to Product Offering

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

Aculab, a provider of enabling technology for the global communications market and a company that offers VoIP developers the hardware and software they need for high performance, wired and wireless communications solutions, offers the ApplianX DPNSS-to-Q.SIG Gateway to allow enterprise customers to easily extend the life of their  DPNSS-based PBX (News - Alert) while also utilizing new IP PBX solutions and cost effectively migrating to a DPNSS-to-VoIP strategy.

Now, the company has announced this gateway was added to Ascom’s (News - Alert) product portfolio so they can offer enterprise customers another solution for integrating to IP-DECT and Voice over WiFi systems. This means companies can protect their existing investments without worrying about disrupting network operations.

Ascom Wireless Solutions, a division of the Swiss Ascom Group, delivers solutions for wireless on-site communications. As per this latest announcement, enterprises will now be able to more easily take advantage of Ascom’s IP-DECT (News - Alert) and VoWiFi systems which offer cordless integration to legacy and IP PBXs.

Commenting on their selection of Aculab’s (News - Alert) ApplianX Gateway offering, Neil Dennis, Product and Marketing Manager for Ascom (UK) Ltd said, “As Ascom is not a PBX manufacturer it is of paramount importance that we have the ability to integrate with as many different PBXs as possible. Where IP-PBXs are concerned we achieve this by ensuring that our systems are VoIP standards compliant together with a program of interoperability testing.  Where our customers have legacy DPNSS-based PBXs, the ApplianX DPNSS-to-Q.SIG Gateway is a fundamental component of our solution.”

Along with a connection for up to two DPNSS trunks and two Q.SIG trunks to support from 30 to 60 DPNSS-to-Q.SIG PBX extensions, the ApplianX DPNSS-to-Q.SIG Gateway also boasts the ability to support“over 20 DPNSS supplementary services of many legacy communications systems, such as route optimization, transfer, caller name display and call diversion.”

“There is still a very large installed base of DPNSS-based PBXs and enterprise customers are reluctant to surrender the many supplementary services they use when looking to migrate to VoIP. With ApplianX, enterprises can now reap the benefits of VoIP and onsite wireless communications presented by the IP-DECT platform, yet maintain their legacy equipment,” said Faye McClenahan, Aculab’s Head of Strategic Marketing.

Recently, TMC’s Erik Linask (News - Alert) caught up with Aculab’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Chris Gravett, to find out more about what Aculab is up to. Check out the interview HERE.
