RAD Data Wins American-Israel Chamber of Commerce Award

Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Associate Editor

Tel-Aviv-based RAD Data Communications and its U.S.-based partner BellSouth were honored Tuesday at the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce (AICC) Eagle Star Award Gala.
The two companies were presented with AICC’s “Deal of the Year” award for their combined efforts restoring data communications to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina devastated the city last year.
According to a description on the AICC’s website, RAD was awarded a BellSouth (News - Alert) contract to replace routers needed to restore wireless broadband service in New Orleans.
“Three wireless base stations were installed on the city’s tallest building to provide high-speed internet access that allowed businesses to communicate with their customers and other companies,” AICC explained.
The Eagle Star Award Gala is held each year to celebrate “the people and companies who have made the most significant impact on business between the Southeast and Israel,” AICC’s website states. The event was held in Atlanta, GA.
