Voice Peering in the Real World

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

A significant change is sweeping through the telecommunications industry. It is no longer the honchos of the telecom industry that are calling the shots; instead, the power of service creation is gradually shifting towards the general public.

Every company is trying to make sense and anticipate what customers desire, the goal being to use that information to create “innovative services,” resulting in a competitive advantage. To gain the upper hand in this era of technology, each company has to be fast and innovative.

Next-generation applications and services based on Internet Protocol (IP) are playing a pivotal role in taking on the constantly evolving challenges of the telecom industry. IP not only allows companies to rapidly deliver enhanced services but also helps slash integration and deployment costs.

Companies and service providers have realized that to benefit from these next-generation applications, they have to find a solution that enables them to integrate, manage, and communicate within the IP environment.

Today, for most companies, the answer is voice peering, which enables the exchange of telephony, video, and other telephony-related communications — all within the IP domain — without transversing the public telephone system between organizations and networks.

Slealth Communications offers its Voice Peering Fabric (VPF), which includes a network of members and partners to address challenges and provide solutions for clients in the industry.

Stealth and the VPF community help organizations accelerate the movement towards end-to-end IP communications. Also, with VPF’s open marketplace, organizations can buy, sell and peer communication services on their own terms, enabling them to respond with speed and flexibility to changing environments.

Along with eliminating the need of provisioning dedicated, disparate connections and their supporting systems, VPF’s open marketplace also provides full transparency between buyers and sellers without a broker or counter-party to a transaction.

Slealth’s VPF comes with lots of advantages, which include bringing new services to the market quickly, eliminating or reducing TDM connections, equipment, and IP-TDM-IP conversions. In addition, it also offers complete transparency end-to-end and helps in avoiding unnecessary IP-to-IP translations.

Sleath Communications’ VPF is also a vital component in developing and deploying next generation telecommunication products and services, such as mashups. The VPF supports emerging standards such as IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) (SIP), Electronic Number Mapping (ENUM), and Service Records (SRV).

Also, its distributed Ethernet architecture allows peer-to-per communications among connected organizations, providing true transparency from data transmission level up into the business relationship level.
