CommuniGate Embeds GIPS' VoiceEngine in the Pronto! UC Client Framework

By Patrick Barnard, Senior Web Editor, TMCnet

Service providers and network operators seeking to roll out unified communications with crystal clear audio quality to their business customers will be interested to know that CommuniGate Systems has embedded the Global IP Solutions’ VoiceEngine in its Pronto! UC client framework.

CommuniGate Pronto! is a flash-based, Web 2.0 client that unifies all forms of communications. It provides broadband and mobile network operators with a client framework to deliver Value Added Services (VAS) for Unified Communications. With it, carriers can build modular services -- such as videomail, IPTV (News - Alert) or Video on Demand (VOD) -- and deliver them to subscribers via the SaaS model while at the same time offering full-featured Mobile Unified Communications.

Pronto! offers a modular class of services including power e-mail, VoIP, presence, instant messaging, rich media with HD audio and video with over the air synchronization to the iPhone (News - Alert) 3G and other smart phones supporting AirSync.

With the GIPS VoiceEngine, Pronto! can now support HD voice services. This comprehensive signaling solution goes beyond the codec and is designed to handle all necessary voice processing for IP networks -- including jitter buffer and echo cancellation. GIPS claims it provides superior voice quality even under the most adverse network conditions.

“CommuniGate is setting a new bar for UC and GIPS is working closely with them to make sure the bar is set as high as possible for voice quality,” said Larry Golob, senior director of business development GIPS, in a release.

The CommuniGate Pro UC platform is a multi-tenant hosting solution for network operators providing Unified Communications in the SaaS (News - Alert) model. It delivers virtualization of domains with a modular feature set, powerful class of service provisioning, and a live rolling updates management capability not found in other solutions. The platform's exclusive Dynamic Clustering architecture provides 99.999% uptime in a multi-tenant architecture with no single point of failure, and allows SaaS providers to add frontend or backend nodes as needed without any downtime or service interruption.

The partnership between CommuniGate and GIPS was announced last week on TMCnet.
CommuniGate also made news on TMCnet earlier this month when it announced that it had partnered with MailSite, which provides secure e-mail, calendar and contact software for carriers, telecoms, hosting providers, service providers, enterprises and small businesses, to bring AstraSync for CommuniGate Pro to the BlackBerry (News - Alert). AstraSync, which MailSite claims is “the industry's first ActiveSync client for BlackBerry smartphones,” provides two-way, over-the-air synchronization of e-mail, calendar and contact data. It delivers the same ActiveSync functionality to BlackBerry Smartphones that is built-in to the Apple (News - Alert) iPhone 3G and Windows Mobile devices. With this new, combined solution, users can synchronize their BlackBerry devices through a secure connection directly to a CommuniGate Pro server, thus forgoing the need to acquire and deploy middleware servers from RIM and other software developers.
