Phone.com Inc., a cloud communications provider, has teamed up with Sansay (News - Alert) Inc., a provider of session border controllers, to more fully secure Phone.com’s services.  Sansay’s VSXi Session Border Controller (SBC) is now completely interoperable with Phone (News - Alert).com’s extensive network.

The added security and reliability of Sansay’s SBC will make Phone.com a more attractive bet for small and medium sized businesses, which the company has been angling for. According to Ari Rabban (News - Alert), Phone.com’s CEO, "Phone.com recognized the need to quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively rejuvenate our network environment. Denial of Service attacks, SIP registration floods, and other similar attacks were disrupting the high quality cloud-based communications service customers had come to expect from Phone.com.”

Rabban will most likely offer more context, and may elaborate on his company’s future plans, at his panel discussion at this week’s ITEXPO in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Rabban will join Terry Hedden of Cloud Guru, Nikesh Kalra of Aryaka, and Moderator Doug Green of Telecom Reseller (News - Alert) in a panel called “Leveraging Cloud Services in the SMB.” Rabban will also give a presentation on the increasingly important Lawful Intercept protocol for the communications industry.

Sansay is also attending ITEXPO (News - Alert). The company will be available to showcase their SBC – and other solutions – at Booth 416. When reached for comment, CEO Andy Voss explained, "Sansay will continue to work closely with Phone.com as they grow, to allow them to focus on their customers while knowing their network is protected from external attacks or internal system failures.”

It seems that the older and more experienced Sansay is facilitating Phone.com’s transition to a larger market. That mutually beneficial relationship will primarily help target the SMB market. For more on either company’s offerings, solutions, or perspective on the deal, be sure to catch up with them at ITEXPO.
