Network monitoring and support are essential to any business that needs to maintain a secure and effective infrastructure. This has meant the proliferation of network monitoring platforms and intrusion detection devices designed for premise based infrastructures, but as of yet has produced few designed to monitor virtual and cloud based solutions. It was with this in mind that network monitoring veteran NetOptic’s designed its new virtual network monitoring device; the Phantom Virtual Tap.
Released at the RSA (News - Alert) conference on Feb. 14, the device solves the virtual network monitoring issues that so many companies now require, offering a scalable solution with all of the features associated with legacy network monitoring. The option will help companies in the process of virtualizing their networks, remain compliant with rigorous network standards and increase performance by identifying network bottlenecks.
“There are no network monitoring solutions that allow enterprises to monitor their networks across both their physical and virtual deployments,” said Bob Shaw, president and CEO of NetOptics in a release accompanying the announcements. “With Phantom Virtual Tap, we provide IT managers a reliable, scalable solution that for the first time in monitoring enables a holistic view of traffic that was previously invisible. Further, the Phantom Virtual Tap empowers managers to meet security and compliance requirements while deriving full investment value from their current implementation of physical tools.”
Phantom Virtual Tap incorporates several features like Hypervisor stack network monitoring, integration with VMware’s vMotion and complete visibility of Inter-VM traffic. As part of NetOptics’ suite of monitoring access and management solutions, Phantom Virtual Tap can be seamlessly integrated with the company’s standard control platform or can deploy in stand-alone mode if needed.
NetOptic’s monitoring solutions are already been utilized by 7000 end users, and the company’s involvement with its community leads them to believe that this new product will provide continued support as the Virtual and Cloud environments continue to grow.
