Stuck in a one-sided, controlling relationship that seems to be going nowhere? Phone.com wants to help.

 

The Livingston, N.J.-based provider of VoIP phone services is building off the popularity of Internet dating to promote its Virtual Office services with an online video.

 

The video, posted on Phone.com (News - Alert) and on the Virtual Office channel on TMCnet, features a woman giving a video testimonial describing her ideal “relationship.” The roughly 90-second video mimics footage people might typically find on a dating service.

 

“I’m ready for a real relationship at this point, so if you’ve got issues with reliability, [you’re] probably not a fit,” the woman said. “You need to be available, first of all. I mean, like really available.”

 

The small business owner woman describes her need for flexibility and the ability to reach someone late at night.

 

“My last relationship, I shouldn’t even call it that,” the woman said. “They had control issues. They felt like I should stay with them no matter what, like sign a contract, the whole thing. But meanwhile, they could drop me anytime they felt like it.”

 

“I am looking for an open relationship, I’ll just be clear,” she continued. “I mean, sometimes I work in the car. Sometimes I work out of state. Sometimes I will work in my pajamas. I need somebody mature, somebody that will grow with me.”

 

The video cuts back to a final scene with the woman’s answer. And the result is Phone.com.

 

“My match is Phone.com,” the woman said. “Looks like a match.”

 

Phone.com’s Virtual Office services lets users access messages through an account and play the messages back through a computer. They also connect businesses during close hours, as owners and employees can listen, view, play and call back voicemails. Users can also obtain a local phone number in nations all over the globe.
