Tixeo WorkSpace3D 4.0 Introduces Presence and Ad-Hoc Meetings
By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor
Version 4.0 of WorkSpace3D has been announced by Tixeo, integrating both presence and ad-hoc meeting features and making collaboration over video conference easier and more efficient. Providing an alternative unified communication solution to products such as Microsoft Lync and Skype (News
- Alert) has been the long-term strategy of Tixeo. This release marks a major milestone in this strategy.
A video conference needs to be scheduled in most of the web and videoconferencing software-based solutions. Only attendees to whom invites have been sent via email can join the meetings. While these solutions are well-suited for planned meetings on a fixed date, informal meetings cannot be held using these solutions. Users, therefore, prefer to use their phone for these meetings.
Presence and ad-hoc meetings features have been added by Tixeo in the latest release of WorkSpace3D. Users can check which other users are either online, busy or offline. By clicking on the contact to talk with, an instant video conference can be set up by the user.
User adoption within companies will be boosted with WorkSpace3D 4.0 as videoconferencing will be now easier and faster. Apart from being more productive, maximizing video conferencing usage will help companies to save more money.
In order to ensure great communication experience, a video conference needs to have good audio quality. Users usually end up with echo issues when using a built-in microphone and speakers. Users need not use headsets or special devices with built-in echo cancellation for improved audio quality. WorkSpace3D 4.0 provides echo-less communications with Workspace3D AEC or Acoustic Echo Canceler no matter which devices are used.
Tixeo offers the possibility to deploy a SIP compliant Confcall Gateway (News - Alert) for customers who want to have their on-premise videoconferencing server in addition to the Workspace3D Enterprise server. Conference calls synchronized to video conferences over WorkSpace3D can be hosted by this gateway. A phone conference will be automatically created on the Confcall Gateway each time a video conference is created. The IPBX and one of the phone numbers of the company is used for the same. At no extra cost, the built-in VoIP of WorkSpace3D or the users’ phones can be used during video conferences.
