By Michelle Robart, TMCnet Editor

Internet access solutions provider, IP Telecom, today announced that it has chosen Satellite Media Port Services (SMS) of the U.K. for collocation and interconnection services for their voice origination infrastructure.

Under the terms of the agreement, SMS’s latest, next-generation teleport and datacenter will support IP Telecom’s growth by providing highly-functional, secure and scalable services.

Bringing SMS’s DVB-S2 RCS services to Africa and the Middle East is expected to aid IP Telecom’s active expansion in those geographical areas.

President and CEO of SMS, Zvi Golod, shared his company’s excitement to have been selected by IP Telecom to meet their demanding requirements. SMS promises to provide critical services to IP Telecom and its customers.

“Their decision supports and validates our strategy of building a world-class communications center, employing the most advanced satellite communications platforms interfaced with robust and redundant Tier-1 fiber terrestrial interconnectivity,” declared Golod.

SMS’s Teleport in Rugby is equipped with three 11-meter antennas with top-of-the-line facilities for power protection, backup and multiple Tier-1 fiber connectivity, including gigabit connectivity to London Telehouse and London Telecity.

“It is absolutely essential that we use only premier facilities for housing our infrastructure and for providing communications services,” said Edwin Terek, president of IP Telecom. “After an extensive investigation and selection process, it is apparent that Satellite Media Port Services fulfills our stringent requirements and will facilitate our future growth plans. By partnering with SMS, we will be able to serve our growing list of customers more effectively and ensure outstanding quality of service for our users.”

IP Telecom Limited and its subsidiary DID World Wide, provide a wide range of reliable, stable and high-quality innovative origination products, including Direct Inward Dialing (DID) access solutions on a worldwide basis. They have built and assembled infrastructure specifically designed to handle origination services, with hardware being housed in secure data facilities in a number of major centers around the globe, with full redundancy and access to premium network resources.

Satellite Media Services (SMS) is an innovative provider of broadband IP satellite services to Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Asia. Solutions support digital audio, video and voice applications using Internet and Intranet via satellite from its UK Teleport. Infrastructure includes Gigabit connectivity to London's Facilities Houses, strategically located Points of Presence (POPs) and a multi-functional and highly secure Teleport capable of communications to all major satellites. SMS' existing Internet customers include PTT's, cable operators, ISPs and ITSPs.
