Europe-based alternative telecom operator Tele2 has announced it selected Comverse MMSC and Mobile Internet Gateway (MIG) to enhance its multimedia messaging and content services for its customers in eleven countries.
Comverse (News - Alert) MIG is a multi-service gateway platform managing mobile Internet traffic. It handles all mobile data traffic—WAP, HTTP, and RTSP— including laptops, and enables operators to track subscriber usage information.
Comverse multimedia messaging service center (MMSC) enables person-to-person and also application-to-person messaging of rich multimedia content. It’s based on components of the Comverse InSight platform.
Tele2 said that it chose Comverse for its comprehensive multi-operator MMSC environment for multiple-country systems and mobile virtual network operators.
With Comverse MMSC, several mobile operators can share the same hardware and infrastructure components and, at the same time, can enjoy service differentiation through application customization.
For a multinational group like Tele2, Comverse officials said, the MVNO configuration provides high server utilization and matches the specific needs of the company.
Moreover, Comverse MMSC can spur distribution of public content by expanding the role of MMS in applications and promotions as well as help stimulate the sharing of personal content.
In recent times, there has been an increase in mobile data traffic. And, the Comverse MIG, officials said, enables management of growing mobile data traffic for all subscribers and devices.
Additionally, the gateway provides an array of data services in a modular offering. Plus, it gives operators centralized capabilities: access control, user management and more.
Back in September, the company introduced a new version of its Comverse Netcentrex Open Media Platform (OMP). The new offering is an advanced standards-based media platform that combines Intelligent Peripheral and Media Resource Function (MRF) capabilities on the same platform.
