Connexion Embraces Comverse Converged IP Communications Solution

By Greg Galitzine, Group Editorial Director

Comverse (News - Alert) has announced that Connexion Technologies has launched Comverse’s MyCall Converged Communications to help their telco customers in turn serve their residential customers with high-quality IP-based voice services over Connexion’s Fiber to the Home (FTTH) networks.

Connexion, a fiber-optic amenity company, designs, builds and manages a series of advanced telecommunication networks for a variety of end user constituents, including single- and multi-family communities as well as hospitality and resort properties.

The company’s FTTH networks offer large amounts of bandwidth and are designed to accommodate emerging technologies as they proliferate. Connexion is constantly seeking new and exciting technologies from vendors and service providers who seamlessly supply the cutting edge of television, voice, Internet, and security services.

“Sophisticated homebuyers across the U.S. are demanding fiber-optic technology today,” said Glen Lang, CEO of Connexion Technologies. “Our customers expect state-of-the-art telephone service with rich features, upgrades and a variety of advanced devices. We needed to find service providers capable of providing such services over our fiber to the home broadband networks who could work within a short timeframe to keep up with our growth. Together with our service provider partners and Comverse, we succeeded in delivering a rich and reliable voice service that is easy to setup and provision, and works perfectly with other services on our broadband fiber networks.”

Connexion selected Comverse’s MyCall system to complement other fiber broadband services such as high-speed Internet, television and home security monitoring. According to Comverse, “MyCall Converged Communications allows operators to bundle fixed and mobile telephony and messaging services together and have service differentiation against pure wireline/ISP operators and/or pure mobile operators.”

The solution is based on emerging IMS architecture and operates on Comverse’s Class 5 Application Server. It enables operators to offer fixed-mobile convergent telephony and messaging services across fixed phones, mobile phones and PCs. The MyCall offering furthermore enables subscribers to access the full breadth of communication and messaging services (telephony, voicemail, SMS, MMS, IM, presence) via PC or mobile phone using a single ID/telephone number.

Said Ramesh Barasia, President of Comverse Americas, “They [Connexion Technologies] offer a network that can support truly integrated converged communication services customized to consumer lifestyles. This project exemplifies the rich and personalized experience that Comverse’s total communications solutions contribute to our evolving market.”
