Testing IP Services: Unitech Electronics Selects BSQUARE TestQuest Solution

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Unitech Electronics has selected and deployed BSQUARE Corporation’s TestQuest CountDown for the testing of its new Home Automation Solution, Elfin.

Officials with BSQUARE (News - Alert) Corporation said that Unitech used the CountDown automated testing solution from the company to test three TASHI (Time Attendance, Access Control, Surveillance, Home Automation and Intercom) products.

Unitech selected TestQuest (News - Alert) CountDown for testing of the M680, MT380 and MT200 products because the company required a reliable, stable and turnkey automated testing solution.

Company officials claimed that using TestQuest test automation, Unitech reduced both costs and the time required to test the systems, which feature integrated intercom, security and control panel functionality designed to provide highly reliable automation systems for large apartment buildings and highrise offices in Taiwan and China.

According to Jim Wang, manager of technical services for Unitech, the company conducted some 100,000 system tests.

"Reliability for our customers is the first priority, so we conducted extensive testing. Manual testing would require two dedicated engineers working four to five days,” said Wang.

He said that with TestQuest CountDown, it took just one dedicated engineer a single day to get the system completely tested before launch. Because it's automated, it takes a fraction of the time.

"With reliability such a high priority for Unitech, BSQUARE helped create repeatable, reusable test cases and then trained approximately 20 Unitech engineers to use TestQuest CountDown test automation tools to simulate customer scenarios," said Matt Herman, director of TestQuest products for BSQUARE.

Herman said that this process will help to ensure a quality end-user experience.

BSQUARE is a major player with a proven track record in providing production-ready software products, engineering services and automated testing to the smart, connected device market.

The Unitech TASHI family of products is fully IP-based for the international V2oIP/SIP protocol and offers a Web page presentation style for messages.
