Speech technologies provider Loquendo has announced their text to speech (TTS) offering was selected by ESRI, a provider of Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies, to speech enable a new in-vehicle navigation solution.
The new offering, ArcLogistics Navigator, is intended for use by trucking, fleet and logistics applications and helps to keep drivers on route and on time. Through improved routing and scheduling features, companies are able to reduce fuel consumption, wear and tear on their vehicles and improve customer service by delivering timely solutions.
According to the company, the cost savings extended through the use of the ArcLogistics solution can save 15-20 percent in fleet-related costs within months of implementation.
To further enhance functionality, the offering also makes use of Loquendo TTS. This solution provides truly natural sounding voices that are able to read any kind of dynamic data and prompts.
Last month, Loquendo (News - Alert) announced an all new version of its Speech Engine and SDK along with Loquendo TTS in 10 major languages. The latest upgrade included an all new set of commands and control tags for prompt designers and improvements to the way users are able to manage and create lexicons as well as a new Java client library, and more.
Using Loquendo TTS, ArcLogistics Navigator is able to read out route directions for drivers if they get lost and thanks to Loquendo’s synthetic speech capabilities, drivers can easily gain access to the content they need without having to take their eyes off the road.
“ArcLogistics Navigator will help our customers gain further savings by ensuring drivers follow the exact routes and sequences set in ArcLogistics,” says Kerry Somerville, ESRI (News - Alert) Product Manager for Navigation.
“Having Loquendo TTS on board helps make these savings real by providing clear audible directions that keep eyes on the road and trucks on route.”
Earlier this week, Loquendo also announced its speech solutions were chosen for an Air Traffic Control (ATC) solution to make it easier for instructors to train and trainees to perform tasks in various flying scenarios.
Loquendo worked with Italian technology provider MythosTech to offer speech technologies for the ATC simulation suite created by Vitrociset, an Italian group in information and electronic technology and integrated logistics.
